Alumni Engagement Intern

Fall 2026: Alumni Engagement Intern

POSITION: Princeton in Africa is looking for an Alumni Engagement Intern to work with our Executive Director during the Fall of 2026. This position may be fully remote or hybrid, with the option to work from our Princeton-based office. We will offer a monthly intern stipend of $150, totaling approximately $450 over three months (to be confirmed and prorated based on start and end dates). Interns who are enrolled in university will be expected to work 10-15 hours per week on a set schedule. We ask that you not hold a full-time position on top of the PiAf internship. If you are interested in another of our internship roles, you can indicate this in your cover letter. All interns must be fully authorized to work in the U.S. and based in the U.S. for the duration of the internship. 

PURPOSE: Support Princeton in Africa's growing alumni engagement efforts by helping maintain alumni data and resources, strengthen connections across the PiAf alumni community, and contribute to the development of new strategies and initiatives for engaging PiAf's global alumni network.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Current college student or recent college graduate with an interest in alumni engagement, community building, international education, nonprofit management, Africa-related work, or a related area. 

  • Strong English writing skills
  • Strong research skills
  • Interest in alumni engagement, community building, international education, nonprofit management, and/or Africa-related work
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent organization and communication skills
  • Experience with Google Workspace, including Google Sheets, and mail merge, a plus
  • Design or marketing skills with Canva and other content creation tools a plus
  • Self-starter, able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience with work in or relating to Africa and/or African Studies coursework is a plus
  • Strong interest in nonprofit operations is a plus
  • Maintain office hours as agreed upon

ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT:

  • Research and update contact, professional, and other relevant information for PiAf's alumni network
  • Support the ongoing development and maintenance of PiAf's alumni directory and alumni engagement databases
  • Assist with developing tools and resources to better understand and engage PiAf alumni, including surveys and other data collection initiatives
  • Organize and visualize alumni data to identify trends and strengthen connections across the PiAf alumni community
  • Support the development and implementation of PiAf's evolving alumni engagement strategy
  • Conduct research on alumni career paths and post-Fellowship experiences
  • Assist with alumni outreach and communications
  • Identify opportunities to improve the usefulness, organization, and accessibility of alumni information and resources
  • Contribute ideas for new alumni engagement initiatives and take ownership of special projects as appropriate
  • Assist with other alumni engagement and program support as requested
