Legislative Internship

The Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA), one of New York's largest labor unions, are recruiting college juniors and seniors for two paid (and full credit eligible) full-time legislative internships for the 2027 New York State legislative session.

CSEA interns will learn the ins and outs of the New York State government and legislative process. Interns are the eyes and ears of CSEA at the state capital and will be tasked with attending press conferences, committee meetings, and legislative session. In addition, interns will be charged with keeping CSEA staff briefed in important legislative and political developments across the state.

At its core, this internship helps students learn how the legislative process really works from an insiders perspective. You will learn how to write and analyze legislation, and learn how to lobby legislators and staff on issues important to CSEA members.

This internship will give you opportunities to meet true decision makers in Albany. You will not sit at your desk all day making photo copies - you will be an integral part of our department and will be given opportunities to build an extensive network to help you in the future.

This internship has had tremendous success in placing interns when they graduate college. Past interns work for the Anheuser-Busch, New York State United Teachers, the NYC Partnership, NYS AFL-CIO,  the Office of the New York State Comptroller, the U.S. House of Representatives, Eli Lilly, PhRMA, Wells Fargo, and many more.
