Intern, Computer Repair and Network Management

Overview

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an unpaid intern to gain hands-on experience in computer repair, IT support, and customer service, with the option to explore automation and workflow tools as well. This internship offers a valuable opportunity to develop technical skills, work with experienced professionals, and contribute to real-world IT projects.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in diagnosing and repairing hardware and software issues on desktop and laptop computers.
  • Set up and configure new computer systems, including installation of operating systems and essential software.
  • Provide friendly, professional customer service — communicating with clients about their devices, repair status, and basic troubleshooting steps.
  • Support basic network troubleshooting and connectivity checks as needed.
  • Document repair processes and troubleshooting steps for future reference.
  • Occasionally travel to customer locations to assist with on-site repairs or setup (mileage reimbursed).
  • Optional: assist with automation projects (e.g., workflow automation, chatbots, scripting, or process improvements) for those interested in expanding beyond repair work.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a technical program (e.g., IT, Computer Science, or related field) or recent graduate is preferred, though we are open to other programs as long as the individual is passionate about computers.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware and software; networking familiarity is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, macOS, or Linux) is required.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable interacting with customers and explaining technical issues in plain language.
  • Interest in automation, scripting, or workflow tools is a bonus but not required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Flexible availability — we understand candidates may be balancing school. General weekday daytime hours are preferred, but exact days/times are open to discussion based on your schedule.
  • Willingness to learn and take on diverse tasks.
  • Access to reliable transportation to our office in Marlboro, NJ.

Benefits

  • Hands-on experience in computer repair, customer service, and IT support — with the option to explore automation projects.
  • Mentorship from experienced IT professionals.
  • Opportunity to earn a recommendation letter or academic credit (if applicable).
  • Exposure to real-world IT challenges and solutions.
  • Mileage reimbursed for any customer site visits.
