Software Engineer

As a Software Engineer, you will provide Second Level Engineering support. You will also develop code, manage applications, and convert code to containerized application code.

 

Job Duties: 

  • Edit, develop, adjust existing Java code base. 
  • Administer and support applications running in Linux environments. 
  • Develop automation code in Bash, Ansible, or Gitlab. 
  • Convert Java middleware application code in a virtual machine environment to containerized application code. 

 

Education & Experience Requirement:  

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related IT fields, with a minimum of thirty (30) semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science may be substituted in lieu of the computer science degree, depending on other qualifications and experience. 
  • 3-6 years of experience is required. 

  

 Required:  

  • Core Java Development: Java, Spring Boot, and Maven. 
  • Containerization & Deployment: Containerization using Docker or Podman. Developing, deploying, packaging, port mapping, and networking.  
  • Publish/Subscribe messaging and enterprise messaging technologies such as JMS, Solace, or Apache Camel. 
  • Web services. 
  • Version control systems like Git.  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills. 
  •  Willingness to learn and try new complex things on the job.  
  •  Professional verbal and written communication. 

  

 Preferred: 

  • Testing & Quality: Test‑Driven Development (TDD), Test development using Junit and/or Mockito. 
  • Ansible automation. 
  • DevOps experience such as using Jenkins or Gitlab. 
  • Familiar with Java OOP design pattern.  
  • National Air Space System (NAS) experience. 

 

Full-time position and will generally be in a cubicle environment.
