Full-Time Customer Services Clerk II
NATURE OF WORK:
Customer Service duties as assigned by the Customer Services Coordinator. Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Providing direct customer assistance to library patrons by checking library materials in and out, collecting payments, issuing library cards, etc.
- Greeting visitors, explaining library services and procedures, and assisting patrons with self-check, printing, copying, scanning, faxing, and use of other library equipment
- Answering and directing incoming telephone calls
- Processing patron holds and interlibrary loan materials
- Handling cash register transactions and deposits with accuracy
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma
- Pleasant, service-oriented demeanor
- Familiarity with computers
- Experience working with diverse populations
- Ability to successfully resolve issues with library patron accounts/behavior
- Ability to enforce library policies equitably
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including active listening
- Ability to function in a professional manner, work independently, and use good judgment
- Flexible and dependable
- Good attention to detail
- Enthusiastic, positive team player
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Public library experience preferred
HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including regularly scheduled eveningsand weekends).
SALARY/BENEFITS: Hourly wage starting at $19.48/hour.YDL offers a comprehensive benefits packageincluding generous paid time off, 12 paid holidays, family health/vision/dental insurance, and contribution to a MERS retirement plan. This position is part of YDL’s AFSCME union bargaining unit.
